Setting Up New Healthcare Infrastructure
This year’s budget also outlines a plan to establish 200 cancer centers and create daycare centers in district hospitals by 2028. On top of that, the government is focused on increasing medical education, with 10,000 new seats next year and a goal of adding 75,000 seats in the next five years to address the shortage of healthcare professionals.
Rising Health Expenditure and Its Impact
India’s health spending is also on the rise. According to the Economic Survey for 2024-25, health expenditure soared to ₹6.1 lakh crore in FY25, up from ₹3.2 lakh crore in FY21.
