What Sets Us Apart as a Design History File Consultant

Global exposure, structured thinking, and execution-ready expertise

Global Consulting Presence Across US, EU, India, UK & GCC Markets

DHF & Design Documentation Aligned with FDA QMSR & ISO 13485

Support for FDA 510(k), PMA, CE Marking, UKCA, CDSCO & SFDA Submissions

Decades of Combined Experience in Medical Device Design Controls

Audit-ready DHF & design controls – we enable regulatory-ready design documentation by aligning risk management, design controls, and validation evidence into a cohesive DHF. This ensures inspection readiness, efficient regulatory submissions, and confident FDA and ISO audit outcomes.

Our medical device DHF services follow your design from plan to transfer. Every design history file medical device inspectors review should trace design inputs, outputs, verification, validation, and changes in one record, and we keep your design history file documentation current as the design changes. The file connects product feasibility and new product design and development records to your quality management system (QMS), US FDA and CE Marking submissions.

Design History File Medical Device FAQs

A Design History File (DHF) is a collection of records that demonstrates a medical device was developed according to an approved design plan and applicable regulatory requirements such as ISO 13485 and FDA design controls. Under FDA QMSR, the same records are called the design and development file.

A DHF provides documented evidence of the entire design and development process. It supports regulatory submissions, inspections, audits, and helps demonstrate compliance with applicable quality management requirements.

A Design History File consultant helps manufacturers prepare, review, and organize DHF documentation, establish traceability, address compliance gaps, and ensure the file meets FDA and ISO 13485 expectations.

A design history file medical device package typically includes design plans, user needs, design inputs and outputs, risk management records, verification and validation reports, design reviews, design changes, and design transfer documentation. DHF vs DMR vs DHR: under the legacy QSR these separated design records, production specifications, and production history; QMSR now maps them to the design and development file, the medical device file, and production records.

Yes, in substance. Under the legacy 21 CFR 820.30(j), FDA DHF requirements obliged manufacturers to maintain a Design History File for each device type. Since FDA QMSR took effect on 2 February 2026, ISO 13485 clause 7.3.10 requires a design and development file instead, so the design history file requirements now follow ISO 13485. The DHF remains the common working name for that record.
